Bengaluru: To get a new company to handle garbage

Bengaluru generates nearly 5500 tonnes of garbage everyday. Only a part of it is reaches processing plants. More recently Bengaluru was known as a garbage city.

The unsegregated mixed waste often ends up in landfills. Landfills are an environmental concern. Apart from the stench, it pollutes groundwater levels

The methane released in the area affects nearby villages.With all landfills filled to the brim, BBMP is scouting for new sites

Citizens also throw packets of unsegregated waste on roadsides

Some of the waste gets accumulated at garbage collection points creating black spots. Also, garbage is also illegally burnt.

To mitigate this mounting garbage problem, the Government has decided to set up a separate company
