Child safety at home
Child injuries are a growing public health concern in India. Young kids account for nearly 15% of total injury deaths across the world. Why child safety should be on a parent’s mind?
Children are playful and they don’t have worldview. Child safety is important for a parent at home . Children accidentally fall, hurt & injure themselves very easily without their knowledge. Sometimes even fatally.
Child safety incidents such as falls, burns, cuts, falling into water, often without knowing to swim, and choking while eating are on the rise.
If this doesn’t worry parents or caretakers, a recent report noted that every day, about 165 children die in India due to an unintentional injury.
A NIMHANS report in 2015 estimated that 60,445 children aged between 0-18 years died as a result of injuries. Out of these, 45,636 deaths were due to unintentional injuries like road crashes, burns, drowning, poisoning and other causes.
