Are weddings safe in the new normal?
Sakshi, 26, was all set for her pre-nuptial on April 8, 2020 at a leading venue in Bengaluru. With friends & families all set for the mehendi ceremony, the lockdown and Covid wedding guidelines came as a rude shock with much confusion surrounding the numbers allowed at convention halls. The family was disappointed and had no choice but to postpone the wedding by a few weeks.
It’s many months now that Bengaluru’s prominent wedding venues are not taking bookings And, no surprises that many weddings and gatherings were cancelled or postponed at the last minute as the guest list cannot exceed 50. Some went ahead, like Pranav Pillai, with a simple ceremony at a temple.
With the Centre issuing unlock 4.0 guidelines and relaxing SOPs, people are getting used to the new normal or restricted numbers, wearing masks, maintaining social distancing and other such etiquettes during the global pandemic.
Bringing back life to social events is a huge challenge. North Bangalore’s notable places like The Royal Orchid, Courtyard by Marriott, Manpho Convention Centre & others are striving towards adjusting themselves while organizing events such as weddings, ceremonies, meetings and the like fit for the new-age.
But, having said that, weddings cannot be held through Zoom meetings, says a manager, clearly tongue-in-cheek. “It is an occasion to display finery, dress up and be part of a life-changing event. So how do we adapt and how are families adapting is the question,” he says.
Manpho Convention Centre in Veerannapalya on the ORR has thought of drive-in concepts similar to experiencing concerts, movies, events & more. Weddings & engagements in a social distancing spatial ways, cleverly designed to suit the surroundings and subtle arts to club the distant space to bring everybody together in one bubble making up an event.
Many convention centers are curating creative architecture in designing the space for socialness using social distancing-friendly designs, and one such event space that is making such efforts in landscaping interiors by brilliant & subtle visual designs is The Royal Orchid Convention Centre, Yelahanka.
Their convention centers are not only a visual retreat, but also follow all safety norms like thermal screening all the attendees as well as staff. The “untouched by hand” standards are at the forefront of their protocol & the royalty of their table banquet service is an enriching experience.
While the whole industry is grappling with the current pandemic situation, places such as Royal Orchid are challenging the times to make the occasions memorable, and not letting people’s expectations slip.
They have livened up the charm of socializing, celebrating, dining and bringing families together.
So those planning momentous family occasions, go ahead with your plans, talk to convention centres, ask them about safety protocols followed & keep your wedding safe, yet enjoyable.
Indulge in the new normal wedding affair. Or else time may slip into 2021 as many experts have warned that the pandemic may continue well into the next year.
